Luxury Details

Standing right in front of Udine's Opera Theatre, The Townhouse is a luxury guesthouse that seamlessly blends 19th Century flair with contemporary comfort. Positioned on Via Trento, the guesthouse occupies a beautifully preserved building that reflects the understated elegance typical of this charming Friuli-Venezia Giulia city's architecture.

The Townhouse is the embodiment of a very specific idea of what we think hospitality, comfort and luxury are. Most importantly, The Townhouse is a labour of love.

Once you walk through our unmistakeable red door you'll find yourself in a different world: the scent in the air, the music playing in the background, the materials, the colours and the textures… everything has been thought of and designed to create a sense of calm wellbeing.

Each of our four distinctive rooms has been meticulously designed with premium furnishings, handwoven wool carpets, and pocketed spring pillow top mattresses to ensure the ultimate in comfort and luxury. Our commitment to excellence extends to every detail, from satin cotton linens to thoughtfully curated amenities.

The carpets used in all the rooms in The Townhouse will gift you with the amazing unforgettable sensation of what it's like to walk barefoot on high pile, high density luxury carpet. The Jacaranda AGRA carpet is truly out of this world. It is also greatly responsible for the unreal quietness of our rooms.

You will notice our bathrooms and their unusual design. Thanks to the floor-to-ceiling glass walls you will have the opportunity to shower in full natural light while enjoying the perception of the space around you.

The most important part of the room is obviously the bed. The bed was a project on its own: from the 100% wooden base and slats to the pillow cases, every element was individually selected to ensure the maximum level of comfort and refinement. Staying at The Townhouse is a truly unique experience, which we hope you will enjoy.

All of these things contribute to a truly unique sensory experience, thoroughly crafted and curated, which would be incomplete without the most important element: that of the human touch.

We do not believe in self check-in and although The Townhouse is entirely "smart" we always make sure you are greeted properly and introduced to your room. We are always ready to assist you with any request.

The true soul of any house is made up of the people who bring it to life and in the case of The Townhouse this means us and you: our guests.

History

A Chronicle of The Townhouse

1800s

The Townhouse building was erected around 1878 as a family residence of small dimensions but with quiet refinement both in its construction (it is a rare example of XIX century buildings with a façade built entirely in solid bricks, very unusual for buildings this size in Udine) as well as in its architectural elements such as the interior wooden staircase still existing today.

1900s

The building survived two wars and a major earthquake, which hit Udine in 1976. The only survivor of its surrounding buildings during WWII, it continued to serve as the residence of its original owners for more than a century.

2000s

In 2009 the building was left empty by the last descendant of the original owner, who passed away with not direct inheritance.

2015

The current owners acquired the building and began planning the renovation and expansion of the property which started in 2018. The idea of The Townhouse was born and it develop more and more until it reached it's current form. The entire concept for The Townhouse, from the architectural development to the cutlery is 100% the work of its owners.

2023

The first phase of The Townhouse opens to guests who were finally able to find a premium accommodation in Udine combining the highest international quality standards with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
